Moldova

Moldova is the poorest country in Europe. But it is not really easy to see. At first sight you might just notice a lot of fancy cars in the streets and dressed up people having their espresso in a nice cafe. But if you walk around in Chisinau late in the evening you will be very aware that Moldova is something different. Feeling a child grabbing your shoe from beneath when you are passing a broken stormwater manhole makes your heart stop. And seeing young children looking at you with sad eyes from a dirty basement window while their nose is deep into a plastic bag filled with glue is so, so sad.
